A Day in a Victorian Ragged School
Year 6 were recently set the task of writing about a day in school imagining they were living in Victorian times. This was part of their 'Victorians' topic.

A tasty Maths lesson for Foundation!
The Upper Foundation girls walked in the snow to Redland Bakery in support of their role play and mathematical work. All girls had the opportunity to choose a cake, pay for their choice and receive change. They explored this money back in class by making wax rubbings of their change. They also enjoyed tasting their purchases at snack time!
Brownies and Rainbows Whipsnade Trip
Redland High Brownies and Rainbows are certainly a hardy bunch, and they proved that during our wonderful day at Whipsnade Zoo! Despite some pretty awful weather our Brownies and Rainbows saw some fantastic animals and had a super time.

Foundation Mayhem!
Foundation classes set off to Mayhem Soft Play at the Riverside Centre for their Christmas end of term treat. A good time was had by all. After an energetic hour on the soft play equipment, the Mayhem staff put on a lovely Christmas buffet lunch. Girls were still buzzing about the trip as they returned after the Christmas break!

Extra Science is a Hit!
A new extra curricular Science Club run by "Glow Jo" from Mad Science begins in soon.
The Nativity is given the 'Come Alive' treatment
When the ‘Come Alive' puppet theatre company visited Redland High Junior School the girls already knew they were in for a treat because ‘Come Alive' have visited the School before and their performances are always wonderful.

Christmas Craft Day
At the end of term as part of the Christmas festivities the Junior School had a wonderful arts and crafts day and the girls produced some fabulous Christmas gifts and decorations.

Year 4 Empire Building!
As part of their History topic this term the girls of Year 4 have been busy constructing Roman buildings in order to make a model of a Roman Town.

Henry VIII
Thank you very much to Dr String and Professor Bull, parents of Sasha Bull, Year 6, who kindly came into School to lead a lesson with Year 5 on King Henry VIII.
Travelling Book Fair
Redland High Juniors were thrilled to discover on totalling up the Book Fair that an amazing £1,128.54 had been spent at the book fair, giving us a fantastic £617.00 in commission.

Christingle Workshops
As part of their project on ‘Signs and Symbols' , Years 3 and 4 were visited by Mrs Rachael Swonnell, a member of the Education Team at Redland Parish Church. She spoke to the girls about Christingle, the Festival of Light.

Water Hippo Competition
Girls in Years 1 to 6 were recently asked to design a picture for a Water Hippo Competition organised by the Eco Club. Thank you to Ellie Wallace and Siobhan Clabour who did a brilliant job co-ordinating the competition.

Junior Inter-house Swimming Gala
What a brilliant afternoon we had at the swimming pool! All girls from Years 3 to 6 had the opportunity to compete in races including Backstroke, Front Crawl, Butterfly, Motor Boat Mania and a Raft Race.

Lunchtime Concert for Junior School
Years 2 - 6 recently took part in an informal concert at Redland Parish Church. It was a truly charming programme and demonstrated how hard the girls are working in their Music lessons and in extra-curricular Music clubs.

Redland High Rainbows and Brownies Ferreting About!
As part of the Centenary year the girls have decided on the themes of our meetings and having an animal night was a high priority! Therefore Redland High Rainbows and Brownies recently played host to some exciting furry friends!

Congratulations to Ellen Chancellor, Year 2, whose poem ‘I love School Jackets' has been published in the ‘Pound a Poem' book.

Redland High Juniors Hockey Match Report
Redland High U11 Hockey teams played extremely well and with great determination. Some outstanding skills were on show against Clifton High on Wednesday 14 October, especially Alice Pullin's outstanding performance as a defender. Rebecca Lemon and Yvonne Bentley scored two goals each, giving them a 4-0 win!

Junior School Recycling Food Fun!
Mrs Helen Peake from Bristol City Council recently visited the Junior School to lead an assembly on ‘Food Recycling'. She introduced herself as a ‘rubbish teacher', but the content of the assembly was anything but rubbish!
Year 6 Maths Challenge
A small group of Year 6 girls recently took part in a Maths Challenge against several other local independent schools. They all did really well and were excellent ambassadors for Redland High School. Well done to: Siobhan Clabour, Poppy Simmonds, Laura Donkin, Sara Tomerak, Ellie Wallace and Millie Wollas.

Redland High remembers visit by Patrick Morris
As many in the country enjoyed the first episode of the BBC Natural History animal behaviour series "LIFE", Redland High Juniors remember the inspiring visit last November by Patrick Morris, producer of the Primates and Birds episodes.
RHOK (Redland High Orienteering Klub)
There was another fantastic turn out of Redland High Junior girls at the Avon Schools' League Orienteering event in the Forest of Dean. Once again the weather was perfect and many of us enjoyed a leisurely picnic together afterwards.
Walking and Scooting are Fun!
Week beginning October 5th saw the Junior School start its ‘Walk to School Week', in recognition of the fact October is ‘International Walk to School Month'. During the week they promoted a healthy life style as well as saving on carbon emissions. They also raised pupil (and parent!) awareness of how easy it can be to fit in some exercise during the day.

RHOK (Junior Orienteering Club)
The first event of the Avon Schools' Orienteering league took place on Sunday 12th September in beautiful sunshine at Blaise Castle. 24 Junior girls from years 4, 5 and 6 came along, many for their first event, supported by their parents.

Junior School Swimming Squad Announced!
Congratulations to the Junior School girls selected for Redland High's swmming squad who will train weekly in preparation for selection for the competition galas.

Orienteering in the Junior School
To enrich their project work about Maps and Mapping, girls from Year 5 sampled Orienteering at Ashton Court during the first week of the Autumn Term.

Junior Prize Giving
At Redland High Junior School we ensure that we continually recognise and praise the girls as they grow personally and academically throughout the year. However, we also like to review high achievement and progress annually and these awards are presented at a special prize giving service.

Enlightening time for Year 4!
At the end of the Summer Term, Year 4 participated in a Lighthouse Design and Technology Workshop as part of their Lighthouse Project Week.

At the end of the Summer Term, Years 1 and 2 visited Redland Parish Church as part of their Religious Education curriculum on ‘Visiting a place of worship'.

Foundation Fun at Court Farm
To celebrate a productive year, the youngest students of Redland High spent a very happy day at Court Farm near Bristol enjoying a variety of farm experiences.

Sports Day Soars!
Redland High Juniors held Sport Day at the School's own sports centre - Golden Hill - and the risk of thunder to break the heatwave held off!
Years One and Two get back to nature!
Years One and Two visited Westonbirt Arboretum at the end of term where they took part in a nature trail looking for clues of animal activity.

Year 3 visit the British Museum
At the end of the Summer Term, Year 3 left school at 8.45am on a long, hot journey to the British Museum in London.

Year 5 Make a Splash!
Year Five had a wonderful day at Ashford Water Centre to enhance their study of Rivers.

Redland High Juniors go Supersonic!
Rubber bands took the place of rocket boosters on Monday 15 June when the Year 6 girls of Redland High Junior School attempted to build their own versions of the Bloodhound supersonic car and race them across the playground!
Years 6 and 7 Water Purification Science Project
Years 6 and 7 joined together this week to reflect on the problems of obtaining pure water if you live in an African village.
