RHS and QEH Psychology Research Conference
15 Year 12 Psychology students made the journey to QEH to run experiments on the Psychology students (and other Sixth Form boys) there. The Redland High students had prepared individual experiments in advance and were very impressive in their professionalism and confidence in running the experiments according to their planned procedures.

Fun and laughter were interspersed with tears of sadness as the Redland High Class of 2010 said farewell. Whether they joined Sixth Form aged 16 or Foundation aged 3 all the girls agreed they were proud to say 'I'm a Redland High Girl'.

11 Sixth Form students represented Redland High as teams from Egypt and Jamaica at the Model United Nations at Kingswood School, Bath for a long weekend in March. There were 50 schools represented from the UK, Germany and the USA.

The Senior School recently reverberated to Rowan House's Charity Day. The girls had already decided to support the charity ‘Save the Bees', but after the Haiti earthquake, decided to split the money raised between the two causes.

On Wednesday 14 October, Year 13 Geographers attended the Bristol Geographical Association's Lecture on the vulcanicity of the British island of Montserrat. The eruption of the Soufrière Hills Volcano began in 1995 and is still continuing.

120 parents of girls from Redland High and boys from QEH met in the Redland High Hall to find out more about the tricky task of ‘Understanding Teenagers'. This was the first of this year's joint Redland High/QEH Pastoral evenings for parents and we were all very impressed by the practical and well researched information and advice that Lucinda Neale, a well known expert in this field, was able to give.


The Peru Shop Opens
Readers will remember that in the summer of 2007 a group of Redland High students visited 'Azul Wazi', a small orphanage in Cuzco, Peru, to give them money previously raised by the School. To strengthen our links with 'Azul Wazi' we have now opened our very own Peruvian goods shop at School!

It's been an exciting summer for Redland High Sixth Former Helen Battrick!  Out of nearly 400 entrants in a competition to find “Bristol's Next Super Model “, she was one of 12 finalists. The judges had to decide on two winners, one male and one female, and Helen was the overall winner of the girls' competition.


Year 12 Politics Visit to Westminster
The Year 12 Government and Politics group recently enjoyed an excellent trip to London. The sun shone on landmark political sights such as Big Ben, Downing Street and Whitehall. After lunch they joined other school groups to hear a very interesting talk by Lord Harris about his own work and political life in general.

Congratulations to all our Year 13s - 100% pass again!
At Redland High, 62 students took their A2 levels this year and all of them passed all their subjects. A 100% pass rate is only the beginning of the good news at Redland High this year. 16 girls got 3 or more A grades, 75% of all passes were at A or B grade and the percentage of A-C grades was 91%.


Essay Writing Prize
We are delighted to report that Lissie Simpson of Year 13 has won fourth prize in a nationwide essay writing competition devised by Heythrop College, London. Lissie has been awarded a place at Newnham College, Cambridge, to study Theology, and the subject of her essay was the significance of Abraham to the three faiths of Islam, Christianity and Judaism.

"I visited UWE for the Maths Event Day, already knowing that I wanted to read Mathematics at University, and the day convinced me that Maths is the right thing to do.
