Classics travel back in time

Redland High's Classics Scholars have been busy out of school enhancing their knowledge of the Romans.

The Year 8s enjoyed a sunny day at Chedworth Roman villa where they were able to appreciate how well the Romans chose the sites for their houses. They came back with medicine bags full of herbs and spices which they had ground themselves.

A group of girls also went to a talk by Caroline Lawrence, author of the ‘Roman Mysteries’. They heard how the sites of Pompeii and Ostia inspired the novels, and were encouraged to start composing their own stories for the Golden Spongestick competition.
