Redland High History Department recently took a group of Year 12 and 13 Historians on a tour of the Midlands. The purpose was to visit three National Trust properties with specific relevance to the A Level units they are studying.
They went to the Birmingham ‘back to back' houses and the Southwell workhouse in Nottinghamshire as part of the AS History unit on Poverty and Public Health in nineteenth century Britain. For a complete change of era and style they then went on to Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire which provided some contextual information for the Tudor A2 coursework unit. It was a thoroughly enjoyable trip and our Sixth Formers were excellent ambassadors for the School at all times.
