Redland High Rainbows and Brownies Ferreting About!

As part of the Centenary year the girls have decided on the themes of our meetings and having an animal night was a high priority!  Therefore Redland High Rainbows and Brownies recently played host to some exciting furry friends!

Members of Bristol Ferret Club came along to talk about their animals and brought along the stars of the show - 40 rescued ferrets and two skunks called Calamity Jane and Captain Chaos and a wild albino polecat called Sharkey.

The girls enjoyed learning about how to care for ferrets and skunks, the differences between wild polecats and ferrets and heard stories about how Maria and Kelly's rescued ferrets came to be re-homed by them.

They also heard that Sharkey's brothers and sisters are being released back into the wild and the reasons why he isn't able to join them. Brown Owl brought in some of her rescued ferrets and the Rainbows especially enjoyed meeting Cleo who is a very old lady indeed at 8 years old!

Cuddling the animals was very popular and the ferrets were gentle, kind and really loved being cuddled! The girls hope that Maria and Kelly will come back soon with the ferrets - and skunks of course!
