Senior Maths Team Challenge
A team of four Sixth Formers recently competed in the Senior Mathematics Team Challenge at UWE organised by the UK Mathematical Trust. The girls found the questions difficult but interesting, and revelled in the opportunity to play with mathematical problems purely for the challenge.
The competition consisted of three rounds: a team round of 10 problems; a crossnumber round where the girls paired up and each pair only had access to either the across or down clues, and a relay round where the answer to one question formed the input to the next problem.
Congratulations to QEH who were the eventual winners.
Also recently, the Sixth Form mathematics students took part in the annual UKMT Senior Mathematics Challenge. The challenge is a multiple choice test which comprises 25 questions that gradually increase in difficulty.
Congratulations to the following girls who were awarded certificates:
Silver: Elizabeth Nolland
Bronze: Sophie Dun, Zoe Spencer-Small, Polly Clements, Jacqueline Yuen, Alessandra Guisti, Siobhan Diffen and Lucy Jetha.
