Just before Christmas, Redland High enjoyed a very successful trip to the 'Clothes Show Live' at the Birmingham NEC. A party of fifty eight girls and staff travelled to this huge event with stalls of various sizes displayed clothing, accessories and beauty products.
These ranged from large recognized brands, through to the small, independent 'boutique' retailers, some selling unique, 'one-off'' samples! The 'Vintage' area was especially popular with visitors. One area of the exhibition was devoted to colleges and universities, who were showing some inspiring examples from students' fashion and textile projects. They also provided free booklets and were happy to offer advice on a range of courses.
In addition to this, there were several catwalk areas where we were able to watch professional models displaying a wide range of fashion collections. One highlight was the 'Designer' show which included garments from the Autumn/Winter 2009 collections by designers such as Vivienne Westwood, John Galliano and Jean Paul Gaultier. The final show was the 3.30pm 'Catwalk' show in which the dancers/performers provided a stunning display.
Boarding the coach for the return journey, all of us received our 'goody' bags with free gifts inside, and a festive T-shirt. We arrived back at School at 7pm, tired but inspired!
