Classical Association Award for Redland High Student
Every year the Bristol Classical Association offers a travel bursary to enable a young person to visit Classical sites abroad. We are delighted that this year Lauren Bird Hall has been awarded a bursary of £200 towards her visit to Rome and Pompeii at Easter.
The award is made to the applicant who shows in a letter of application that he or she has real enthusiasm for the ancient world and would make the most of the opportunity.
Lauren is in Year 8, and as well as learning Latin she is a great fan of the Roman Mysteries novels by Caroline Lawrence. In her letter of application she convinced the judges of her genuine love of Latin and Roman civilisation and her excitement at the thought of climbing Vesuvius, wandering round the buildings in Pompeii and visiting the great monuments in Rome.
We wish Lauren and her fellow travellers a wonderful time!
