Redland High Climbing Success!
During a recent climbing competition Isabella Bentley completed both of the top-roped routes, getting her into a head-to-head final for first place! Isabella was also the only girl to enter the lead climbing competition and she did extremely well!
Redland High Go4SET Success!
Redland High's Young Engineers 'Go4Set' Teams recently took part in a 'celebration and assessment' day. The organisers told Mrs Linda Fletcher, Head of Science, that the Redland High girls stood out from all the schools present in terms of behaviour, friendliness and the way they approached their work.
RHS and QEH Safe Surfing Together!
Parents from Redland High and QEH met recently for a joint pastoral information evening about ways in which parents and teachers can help young people to use the internet safely. The workshop was held in the QEH theatre and was run by four members of the Redland Community Police team who gave an excellent presentation
Classical Association Award for Redland High Student
Every year the Bristol Classical Association offers a travel bursary to enable a young person to visit Classical sites abroad. We are delighted that this year Lauren Bird Hall has been awarded a bursary of £200 towards her visit to Rome and Pompeii at Easter.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Success!
Year 7's Molly Cheesley is having great fun treading the boards at the Bristol Hippodrome, where she is appearing in a 3 week run of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Good News from theTuck Shop
At Redland High we have a Tuck Shop, which sells Fair Trade chocolate, biscuits, cakes and ice cream in morning break .The Year 11 girls who organise and run the shop are absolutely delighted to have made a profit of just under £1000 between Summer 2008 and October 2009.
Redland High Head 'The Times' GCSE Table
Redland High is delighted to announce that we top the GCSE League Table for the Bristol area as published in The Times newspaper. Add to this the published DCSF value added results at A Level and it totals a great start to any girl's life.

The snow may have made the New Year start slowly but revisiting the end of term Christmas celebrations at Redland High from the girls of Lower Foundation through to the young women of the Sixth Form will quickly produce a warm glow.
Senior House Debating Society Final
Congratulations to Chestnut's Isabelle Stoddart and Luna Li, who won the Senior House Debating competition at the end of last term, proposing the motion, 'This House would invest in the space race'. They produced some detailed arguments as a result of very thorough research.
Redland High Orienteers
Well done to the four Senior School girls who represented Redland High school RHOKS at the recent Avon Schools Orienteering League event in the Forest of Dean. Isabella Bentley came 2nd in the Year 8 group, and Jessica Belcher, Amelia Dore and Elinor Rogers respectively 3rd, 4th and 5th in the Year 7 group.

As part of their Personal, Social and Emotional Development the girls in Lower Foundation have the opportunity to take Gulliver, the class Teddy Bear, home for the weekend or on holiday.
A Day in a Victorian Ragged School
Year 6 were recently set the task of writing about a day in school imagining they were living in Victorian times. This was part of their 'Victorians' topic.
Raising funds for Haiti
Thank you very much Katie Knapp and Emily and Lucy Griffin for all your hard work in organizing and running the biscuit and cake sale in aid of the Haiti Earthquake Appeal fund. A marvellous £700 was raised.
A tasty Maths lesson for Foundation!
The Upper Foundation girls walked in the snow to Redland Bakery in support of their role play and mathematical work. All girls had the opportunity to choose a cake, pay for their choice and receive change. They explored this money back in class by making wax rubbings of their change. They also enjoyed tasting their purchases at snack time!
Brownies and Rainbows Whipsnade Trip
Redland High Brownies and Rainbows are certainly a hardy bunch, and they proved that during our wonderful day at Whipsnade Zoo! Despite some pretty awful weather our Brownies and Rainbows saw some fantastic animals and had a super time.
Foundation Mayhem!
Foundation classes set off to Mayhem Soft Play at the Riverside Centre for their Christmas end of term treat. A good time was had by all. After an energetic hour on the soft play equipment, the Mayhem staff put on a lovely Christmas buffet lunch. Girls were still buzzing about the trip as they returned after the Christmas break!

The Nativity is given the 'Come Alive' treatment
When the ‘Come Alive' puppet theatre company visited Redland High Junior School the girls already knew they were in for a treat because ‘Come Alive' have visited the School before and their performances are always wonderful.
Christmas Craft Day
At the end of term as part of the Christmas festivities the Junior School had a wonderful arts and crafts day and the girls produced some fabulous Christmas gifts and decorations.

A group of Sixth Form historians recently travelled to Bath to hear a lecture entitled 'Elizabeth I and the Historians' delivered by the prominent Tudor historian and Bristol academic Professor Ron Hutton.
Redland High Artwork Exhibited at Bristol Cathedral
Redland High's reputation as an excellent School for Artists to develop and excel will once again be supported by the pieces of work available to view at Bristol Cathedral from Friday 12 February until Tuesday 2 March.

Gabblers' Dinner Makes a Splash
The latest Gabblers' Club dinner was held at the Mecure Hotel. Redland High's Gabbler Alessandra Guisti gave an excellent after dinner speech, for which she was commended on her content and delivery. Her title was ‘Making a Splash'.
Redland High Value Added Tops Bristol Girls' Schools
The DCSF have recently published the results of their analysis of how much added value a school gives to its students. The graph shows the results for the average amount of value added between GCSE and A Level examinations.
Gabblers' Dinner
The Gabblers' Dinner was held at the Mercure Hotel. Guests were given a splendid dinner and then royally entertained to some excellent speeches. Alessandra Giusti, our own Gabbler, spoke on ‘Food for Thought'
Clothes Show Live!
Just before Christmas, Redland High enjoyed a very successful trip to the 'Clothes Show Live' at the Birmingham NEC. A party of fifty eight girls and staff travelled to this huge event with stalls of various sizes displayed clothing, accessories and beauty products.
Addressing climate change
Sixth Form Geographers recently went to a very timely lecture on water management and climate change. The lecture was by Dr. C. Staddon at held at Bristol University.
Redland High meets The Apprentice
Redland High's AS Economics and Business Studies students recently attended a revision conference in the awe-inspiring Wills Memorial Building. A number of interesting speakers were present however they were particularly thrilled to meet James from the BBC programme 'The Apprentice.'
