Star performances at A Level and GCSE!
Students at Redland High School for Girls have achieved almost 30% of their passes (pass rate of 100%) at the new A* grade – 28.8% to be precise! In this highly competitive year, it is especially pleasing that Redland High students will be going to the universities of their first choice.

Children's author, Amanda Mitchison visited Redland High recently to discuss her recent publication and work with Year 9 students who have just completed a short stories project.

Year 7 visited the medieval village at Cosmeston, Penarth, set on the pilgrims' route from Cardiff to St David's.
Latin Play
Redland High recently hosted the annual Gloucestershire Latin Plays Competition. We entered two plays. Year 8 girls performed a scene from 'Harrius Potter et camera secretorum' and Year 9 Latinists acted out the story of Nero and his attempt to murder his troublesome mother.
Fashion Show Bollywood Extravaganza
At the end of the Summer Term Redland High once again rocked the catwalk at the annual Fashion Show with a 'Bollywood' theme.
Odyssey Marathon
Homer‟s great epic The Odyssey was brought to life in a marathon reading organised by Redland High's Classics Department.
Flying the Flag for FIFA
Sophie Crane, a Year 8 pupil here at Redland High, was on the pitch in South Africa with the England football team when they won their crucial match against Slovenia!
Year 7 see Bristol in a different light
Year 7 recently enjoyed a Geography field trip around Bristol. The day was designed to teach pupils about their city and how it has changed over time up to the present day.
Redland High Orienteering - RHOK
The final event in the Schools' League took place at Cleeve Hill, Gloucestershire. Both Senior and Junior Teams competed producing some great results.
Yvette Gate - a tribute from Caroline Bateson, Headmistress
I am sure many of you will have heard of the very sad death during half term of Yvette Gate, one of our Year 12 pupils. She passed away peacefully in Bristol Childrens' Hospital on 29 May 2010.

Redland High Junior School Junior Strings Summer Concert
Yet again the girls of Redland High Junior School presented a wonderful musical concert. 22 girls played their stringed instruments to a packed Junior School Activity Hall of parents/carers and invited guests.

A big 'Well Done' to everyone who took part in the fundraising day on behalf of the RNLI raising a fantastic £247.30 towards the cost of kitting out a Lifeboat Rescue Volunteer with a jacket and helmet.
Redland High Year 4 wins Bristol Photograph Competition
During the Junior School Walk to School Week a competition was held for the most interesting photograph taken on the journey to School. The winners' photographs were then entered into a city wide competition and Ella Kipling (Year 4) has won and will be attending a special award ceremony on 5 July.
Bikeability for Years 3 and 4
Redland High Year 3 and 4 girls successfully completed their Level One Bikeability Course this week. The girls were trained by a qualified instructor, Mrs Sarah Thompson, ably assisted by two of our Year 3 Mums.
Redland High Athletics Winners
Well done to the girls - Juniors and Seniors - who took part in the Athletics match against Clifton High School. The Althletics Team achieved fantastic results with Redland High winning every age group.
Singing Concert
Students from Year 6 to Year 13 entertained the audience with a variety of songs from a wide range of styles including folk music, pop music and musical theatre.
Rounders Fixture v The Redmaids' School
Congratulations to all the girls who took part in the Rounders fixture against The Redmaids' School on Wednesday. Both Year 6 and Year 5 won their games, winning by at least 4 and a half rounders.

Latest News from the Sixth Form
RHS and QEH Psychology Research Conference
15 Year 12 Psychology students made the journey to QEH to run experiments on the Psychology students (and other Sixth Form boys) there. The Redland High students had prepared individual experiments in advance and were very impressive in their professionalism and confidence in running the experiments according to their planned procedures.
Education Beats Poverty
Ten Redland High Year 11 Students travelled to London at the end of term to attend a Global Student Forum to discuss ways of fighting the problem of poverty in the world.
A Celebration Lunch for Yvette Gate
Yvette had expressed a wish to have a party on the terrace when she felt well enough to return to School; sadly that was not to be. However, Year 12 celebrated Yvette's life recently with a special lunch on the terrace of Redland High in accordance with her wishes.
Olympiad Success
Every year the Royal Society of Chemistry promotes the International Chemistry Olympiad. Students are set an extremely demanding 2 hour paper on various chemical problems, and two of our Year 13 students volunteered to take it.
QEH and Redland High Debate - In French!
Should cannabis be legalised? That was the motion that was hotly debated, in French, by Sixth Formers from Redland High and QEH.
Fond farewell to Class of 2010
Fun and laughter were interspersed with tears of sadness as the Redland High Class of 2010 said farewell. Whether they joined Sixth Form aged 16 or Foundation aged 3 all the girls agreed they were proud to say 'I'm a Redland High Girl'.
Nuffield Science Bursaries
Year 12 students Sara Rogers and Emily Linsey-Bloom have been awarded Nuffield Science Bursaries. This provides funding for them to carry out a project in a university department in the summer holidays.
Habitat for Humanity quiz raises £1300
The girls participating in the Habitat for Humanity trip to Zambia held a fund raising quiz evening recently.
Maple has a Heart
As a House that always shows its true colours, Maple looked forward to raising money for the British Heart Foundation with a range of 'red' themed ideas, a yummy cake sale and creative face painting.
German A Level Trip to Berlin
During the Easter break Sixth Formers studying German accompanied by Mrs McMahon and Mrs Roberts flew to Berlin for a three night stay in an Ikea-furnished apartment which cost only 11 Euros a night!
